OUR STORY
A MI TALLA was born from a simple idea: Cuban dance is much more than learning steps. After years of training, performing, and teaching between Cuba and Europe, Eglis wanted to create a space where he could share not only Salsa, Son, Rumba, and Afro-Cuban dances, but also the culture, music, history, and spirit behind them.
From this vision, A MI TALLA New Movement was born. A project created to connect roots with new generations, where everyone can develop their dancing while discovering and experiencing a little piece of Cuba. Because at A MI TALLA, dancing is more than moving the body. It is about expressing who we are, sharing where we come from, and connecting people and cultures through music and movement.
MEET THE FOUNDER
Founder · Dancer · Teacher
Eglis was born in 1993 in Songo La Maya, a small town in Santiago de Cuba, where he grew up in a farming family.
His connection to music and dance began naturally. As a child, he would dance in the streets simply because he loved it.
People in the town soon recognized his talent and encouraged his mother to take him to a dance audition.
At just 10 years old, Eglis was accepted into his first dance school, marking the beginning of a journey that would take him
far beyond his hometown.
He later studied at EIA Pepito Tey, where he developed a broad artistic education in dance technique, ballet, theatre,
Cuban and international folklore, Cuban popular dances, Afro-Cuban dances, and choreography. He continued his training at the National School of Arts and later at the University of the Arts of Cuba (ISA), where he graduated in Dance Technique with a specialization in Yoruba Dance. Alongside his studies, Eglis developed his career on stage. For four years, he was part of All Star, the renowned Rueda de Casino group led by Maestro Jorge Luna.
He later joined Folklórico de Oriente, deepening his knowledge of Afro-Cuban traditions. He was also a member of Cuban institutions such as Artes Escénicas, the Ministry of Culture, and the Center for Research and Development of Dance. His journey within Salsa and Casino began under the guidance of Maestro Yaner Revilla, World Champion of Para Bailar Casino in 2014.
Eglis began as a student and, through dedication and hard work, became one of the company's principal dancers.
Dance later brought him to Europe, where he has had the opportunity to teach, perform, collaborate
with different artists, and create choreographies in several countries.
Today, Eglis brings all of these experiences together as the founder of A MI TALLA New Movement.
His approach is rooted in musicality, culture, history, and connection, offering his students the opportunity not only to learn how to
dance, but also to understand the roots of Cuban dance.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Musicality is learning to listen and understand every sound within the music. It is being aware of rhythm, timing, accents, and pauses. When you dance with musicality, your body responds to what it hears, as if you know the song from within. It is not just about following the rhythm, but about interpreting the music with your body and anticipating what comes next.
I teach technique as a tool to help dancers move with control, freedom, and confidence. We work on posture, balance, weight transfer, coordination, body movement, connection, turns, and musicality. My goal is not to create rigid dancers, but to develop conscious and adaptable bodies that can connect with the music, the partner, and the movement.Technique gives you the foundation; music, connection, and expression give it life.
Expression is the ability to interpret the music and communicate through movement. It is not about doing more movements, but about understanding the music, feeling its energy, and allowing your personality to come through your body. Technique gives you the tools; expression gives your movement personality and life
Connection is the ability to communicate through the body, with your partner and with the music. It is about listening, responding, and creating a natural dialogue through movement. In Cuban salsa, connection is not only about holding hands or following patterns. It is about energy, intention, awareness, and trust between both dancers. Connection turns movement into communication.

DEVELOPMENT · FLOW · CONFIDENCE
At this level, I build on the foundations learned previously, focusing on greater coordination, body control, connection, musicality, and flow. I introduce more complex combinations and help students connect movements naturally, interpret the music, and begin developing their own style within Cuban salsa.
PARTNERWORK · FIGURES · CONNECTION
At this level, I deepen the foundations of Cuban Casino, focusing on its essential steps, figures, connection, leading and following, coordination, and flow. I also work on musicality, interpretation, style, and improvisation, helping students use Casino figures naturally and adapt them to the music and their partner. The goal is to move beyond simply executing figures and start truly understanding and dancing Casino.
FOUNDATION · RHYTHM · BASICS
At this level, I build on the foundations learned previously, focusing on greater coordination, body control, connection, musicality, and flow. I introduce more complex combinations and help students connect movements naturally, interpret the music, and begin developing their own style within Cuban salsa.
ROOTS · MUSICALITY · ELEGANCE
At this level, I focus on the essence, technique, and musicality of Cuban Son. We work on body movement, weight transfer, posture, footwork, partner connection, turns, and the characteristic elegance and rhythm of Son. The goal is to understand the roots of Cuban dance and develop a natural, musical, and authentic way of dancing Son.
ENERGY · FUSION · EXPRESSION
At this level, I explore Timba as a modern and evolving Cuban dance style, combining Cuban popular dance with influences from Reggaeton, Hip Hop, Jazz, Afro-Cuban movement, and other urban styles. We work on body movement, musicality, coordination, energy, transitions, and personal expression, learning how to adapt different styles while maintaining the essence and energy of Cuban dance. The goal is to create freedom, versatility, and individuality through movement.
RHYTHM · MOVEMENT · CULTURE
At this level, I focus on complex Cuban salsa combinations, advanced partner connection, musicality, flow, and improvisation. We work with both smooth and fast combinations, dynamic transitions, body movement, and the ability to adapt naturally to the music and the energy of the partner. The goal is not just to execute complex figures, but to dance with freedom, control, connection, and enjoyment.
